Soul Food Sunday - A Success

For the back story - go here.
I'd say today was a total success. You have no idea how it feels to have done this. I feel blessed to have so many great people in my life. Not only that - but people that genuinely care! From the pics, you'll see waht I mean!
The final menu was smothered chicken, braised beef short ribs, fried catfish, cornbread dressing, cornbread muffins, green beans and white potatoes, collard greens with smoked turkey, salad (with a homemade red wine vinaigrette), peach cobbler, banana pudding, and cheese cake.  -DTW

  1. Mmmm, I need one of these Sundays in the worst way right now.

Those folks on the bed looked like they were fighting the itis and for a nice soft place to lay their heads.

  4. OMG - that food looks sooooo good. How do you like the deep fryer? I've been looking around for one, not sure which one to get.

Care to share your collard greens recipe? Us white folks don't know how to cook them. LOL Seriously, I've never had them before and would love to try them!

Thanks for the pics - looks like a fun time was had by all!

  5. LOL@ brneyedgal...

Your smothered chicken looks really good. I'm not a catfish fan, but I love fried fish. Give me whiting. Thanks for sharing, man. I really wish I could've been there to partake of that corbread...in the cast iron skillet, nonetheless. You know what's up.

I like the fact that regardless of what you've been through, you have chosen to celebrate those people who have come across your life who have been a blessing. That's a good thing!

Why am I always HUNGRY when I visit your site? I NEED to teach myself NOT only to stay away from the grocery store when Im HUNGRY, but to also STAY as FAR AWAY from your Blog as possible, as well.

I so MISS being surrounded by the physical presense of My Family and Friends, just on the regular. AMAZING how the group of you were able to come together and just FEAST.

I LOVE your Brick Walls. I have ALWAYS imagined myself living in an Artsy, New York Loft that has brick walls. Goddammit! Is it FAIR that you NOT only have Good Food on the Table, BUT...U also have My Freakn Walls.

Can Someone PLEASE CALL the UnFair Police?

  44. Yum!! That looks so good.... and as child of Louisanna you know I am missing "real" Southern Fried chicken.... and I always make my corn bread in my cast iron skillet - its just the right thing to do...

I have to say the biggest drag about losing sixty pounds (and keeping it off) is not eating my beloved food from home... I am now actively craving fried chicken, greens and cornbread....

Which banana pudding recipe do you use???
